In addition to the investment team and finance professionals, Trilantic Europe’s network is supplemented by 12 Operating Partners and Senior Advisors as well as the Advisory Council, which has been active and chaired by Lord Baker since 2004, bringing together a group of 18 prominent Council members. Adolfo Valsecchi has over 50 years of experience in the seafood business. Originally from an engineering background, he started running small tuna canning operations in Italy, Madeira (Portugal) and Somalia. Since 1972, he spent 23 years as CEO and minority shareholder at Palmera-Alco, the second-largest canned seafood business in Italy. He was a member of the Italian Canners Association and several working Groups at the EU Commission in Brussels. In 1995 he created IAT (The first Oceanic Tuna Italian Fishing Company) and built the Purse Seiner "Torre Giulia“, which is still operating very successfully in the Indian Ocean. In 1996, he joined Heinz as Managing Director of the Mareblu business and as Operations Director of the Heinz Europe Seafood Canneries. In 1999, he became Managing Director of both the Heinz European Seafood business and the four Western European Product Categories of Heinz. In 2006, Heinz European Seafood was acquired by Trilantic and renamed to "MW Brands“. Mr Valsecchi became CEO and Shareholder. MW Brands was sold in October 2010 to Thai Union, today the number 1 Tuna Company in the World and Mr Valsecchi was reconfirmed CEO. In 2014, Mr. Valsecchi became Majority Shareholder and CEO of AS do MAR - Generale Conserve, an independent Canned Seafood Company and leader in the premium segment, based in Genova-Italy with the most technically advanced plants in Sardinia (Italy) and Portugal.
